Chevy told Tim Strange of Strange Motion Rod & Custom that they disliked hot rodders and hot rod style, and that hot rodders didn't have the talent or skill to build a late model and that Strange Motion won't get to build this truck for SEMA. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

He removed the chrome, that's why they disliked it. GM products cannot have less than 100 lbs of plastic chrome.

this is going to stir up a shitstorm in the roddin' world

Why do I feel like this is exaggerated?
Seriously, I'd love to see an actual transcript of what went on between Chevrolet and Tim Strange.

Is this what chevy actually said or it what Tim Strange heard when chevy wouldn't give him a brand new truck for free?

*Arbitrary gripe about ludicrous wheel size being a betrayal of hotroddism here*

Is it just me, or those rims are out of place.

Since there was no quote from Chevrolet, I would have to assume it's an interpretation. Also, they can't stop them from doing a hot rod. What's more likely is that they withdrew their support.
If this is the case, I think he should quit his bitching because tons of OEMs forego racing support with little to no reasoning behind it.

They just look like vintage salt flats style wheels with modern sizing and offset.

He said that it was Chevy's new SEMA team that said that.

I'd like to see a transcript myself.

How so?
Also, you do realize that's a slightly exaggerated rendering, right?

Seriously.
I don't want to jump to conclusions, but it sounds like the sort of thing where Chevy just said 'we aren't going to support your project' and the dude turned that into 'Chevy hates hotrodders'

Right but you know how sometimes you tell someone something and they hear it completely different, and recount it in a very twisted way that doesn't resemble the initial conversation at all? I think Tim is just bitter he didn't get the lucrative SEMA deal and all the money and free stuff that comes with it. You're putting it out there as fact when it's simply a he said, she said type deal.

The crate ZZ4 is in countless street rods across the nation and probably world. GM sells tons of stuff to street rod guys. There is more to this story.

I know modern hotrod culture worships at the altar of Big Round Chrome, but, er, no. Rubber band tires don't belong on a hot rod, end of. Whitewalls, maybe. Red lines, maybe. RWL, sure. "Hurr hurr this is just like a 60s alloy but 26" across"? DIAF
And that's even with the recognition that Chip Foose likes it, and liking pretty much everything else he does, and liking some parallel trends in lowrider culture. I just can't stand it - big wheels are just not even remotely my thing on anything trying to say "hot rod".

Quote from Chevy:
We aren't supporting your [shitty talentless] project.
